Laser ,Types and Use

LASER :-                    LASER is an acronym of  Light Amplification by stimulated emission of Radiation. It is an optical device which produces an intensive beam of highly coherent, Monochromatic light[ Electromagnetic radiation, especially visible radiation, of only one frequency or wavelength]. It can travel over great distance without spread.   LASER LIGHT :-                                   1. It is very different than normal light and contains only one specific wavelength of light.                                 2. A laser light has very tight beam and is very strong and concentrated.                                 3. A laser light can go to the moon and th...

Surface Tension uses in daily life

What is Surface Tension?
                                                                             - This is the property of the liquid by which the free surface of the liquid at rest tends to have a minimum surface area.

Surface tension is measured as the force acting per unit length of an imaginary line drawn on the free surface of the liquid.

Surface tension = force/ length = work done/ Change in area

NOTE - The surface tension of the liquid decreases with increase in temperature and becomes zero at the critical temperature.

Application in Daily life-

1. The Spherical shape of the liquid- This is because of surface tension, which is the phenomenon of acquiring minimum surface area. Hence leave the water droplets spherical in shape.

2. Hot soup is tasty that cold one-  It is because the surface tension of the hot soup is less and so it spreads over the large area of the tongue and feels tasty than cold one which has a higher surface area which prevents it to spread on the tongue.

3.  Use of kerosene oil on the water surface-  Insects and mosquitoes swim on the surface of the water in ponds and lakes etc. due to surface tension. If kerosene oil is sprayed on the water, the surface tension of water lowered and the insects, mosquitoes sink in water and dead.

4. Oil spreads over water surface-  This is because of surface tension of water is larger than of oil, stretches the oil drop on all sides.
