Laser ,Types and Use

LASER :-                    LASER is an acronym of  Light Amplification by stimulated emission of Radiation. It is an optical device which produces an intensive beam of highly coherent, Monochromatic light[ Electromagnetic radiation, especially visible radiation, of only one frequency or wavelength]. It can travel over great distance without spread.   LASER LIGHT :-                                   1. It is very different than normal light and contains only one specific wavelength of light.                                 2. A laser light has very tight beam and is very strong and concentrated.                                 3. A laser light can go to the moon and then come back to the earth without any appreciable change in intensity.                                  4. The light released is monochromatic (consists of only one wavelength) and coherent.  LIPS ( LASER Induced Plasma Spectroscopy) :- It is based on plasma formation on temperature basis, the material absorbs all th

The Dancing with the stars but they seem higher than they actually appear and Atmospheric Refraction

The stars seem higher than they actually appear- as the light from a star enters the earth's atmosphere, it undergoes atmospheric refraction and bends towards the normal at position each time. The upper layers of the atmosphere are rarer than that lower layers. The apparent position of the stars slightly different from its actual position. The star appears slightly higher (above) than its actual position when viewed near the horizon.

What is Atmospheric Refraction?
                          - Earth can be considered to have consisted of layers of different densities, which acts as a rarer or denser medium with respect to one other. the refraction of light due to these layers is called atmospheric refraction.

Advance Sunrise and Delayed Sunset-

The sun is visible to us about two minutes before the actual sunrise, and about two minutes after the actual sunset. this is because of atmospheric refraction.when the sun is slightly below the horizon, the sunlight coming from less dense air, is refracted downwards. because of this, the sun appears to be raised above the horizon. So the rising sun can be seen about 2 minutes before actual the time of sunrise. similarly, due to atmospheric refraction, the sun can be seen for about 2 minutes even after the sun has set below the horizon.
